Summer Musical Theatre Camps
Presented by Starlight Community Youth Theater

Starlight Community Theater announces two summer musical theatre opportunities for youth. Camp Rising Star is a two-week theatre camp for young actors 6 – 14 years old, and Beauty and the Beast Jr., is a three-week performance camp for ages 6-18. Both will culminate with final performances at Boulder Creek High School - Main Stage in Anthem.

Camp Rising Star

This two-week intensive theater camp trains the Broadway bound - no experience necessary - how to become a triple threat. Participants will learn techniques in acting, vocalization, and choreography. Camp is for ages 6 – 14, with older kids performing a medley of songs from the hit musical, HAIRSPRAY. The younger performers will share a Disney sampler, with emphasis on Beauty and the Beast. Directed by Kirk Douglas, camp runs Monday through Friday, June 15 – 26, 2009, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with a final showcase on June 27 at 6:00 p.m. at Boulder Creek High School that will leave the audience cheering for more. Registration is $199 per student, with a 25% sibling discount available.

Beauty and the Beast Jr.

"Be Our Guest" as we literally dive into the pages of Disney's classic abridged version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, JR. Directed by Kirk Douglas, Beauty and the Beast Jr. is for ages 6 – 18 and rehearses June 29 – July 17 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. M-F, with older leads staying for some afternoon rehearsals. Final performances will be held at Boulder Creek on July 18 and 19. Registration for this 3-week production is $299 with a 25% sibling discount.

Online registration for both is available at www.dvusd.org/communityed. Questions, please call (623) 445-5018, or visit www.StarlightCommunityTheater.org for more information. Participants may register for all five weeks for $400 with sibling discounts available. All rehearsals take place at Anthem School, 41020 N. Freedom Way, Anthem.
